Outdoor camera: wired or battery-powered?
It's the first question everyone asks. The right answer depends on three things: where you install, how far a power source is, and how often a year you're willing to recharge. Here's how to decide.
Battery: freedom of placement
A battery camera installs anywhere in minutes, with no electrician and no channel cut into the wall. It's the obvious choice for a distant gate, a garden shed or a rental. In return, you recharge every 2 to 4 months depending on activity — a small solar panel makes that chore all but disappear.
Wired (PoE): fit and forget
A wired PoE camera (powered over the network cable) never needs recharging and records continuously 24/7. The install requires running a cable to the vantage point, but once fitted it's invisible in your daily life. It's the choice for permanent setups and large properties.
